Texture, earth tones, history, and printmaking were the themes in this 1st and 2nd grade lesson. I love doing mixed media with students. Look closely for the hand prints in the background! Materials: oil pastels, tempera, and crayon.
The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. — Aristotle

Dinosaur Designs
Students created their own interpretations of what they feel dinosaurs may have looked like. We explored paleontologist's theories of birds, reptiles, and large mammal relationships. They came up with their textures and color schemes. So pleased with the outcome of this project!

100 Color Challenge
Art Club students had the task of creating 100 different colors by mixing only the 3 primary colors:
Red, Yellow, Blue. They also had black and white paint in order to lighten or darken any of their colors. It was quite the challenge, but good fun at the same time!!
