For this unit, we explored opposing forces from an Eastern perspective. The concept of Yin Yang was introduced further connecting students to the important elements of art, positive/negative space. Students cut out various organic and geometric shapes from a 5x5 black square and assembled them onto a collaged background using a mirroring effect. This technique is inspired by Japanese Notan designs.
